Securing the Supply Chain: A Full-Scale Surveillance Overhaul for OmniLink Logistics

Effective warehouse performance doesn’t just need inventory management and logistics coordination, but also requires a secure infrastructure. Our team took on the task of working with a growing warehouse & distribution company to set up an updated video surveillance security system in order to provide better overall visibility for warehouse operations, to improve general asset protection, and to provide day-to-day monitoring of warehouse operations.

Creating the most advanced modular video security camera systems, we have provided a large area coverage, accommodating the high movement of inventory within the warehouse with 24/7 monitoring.

The Client
Our Client OmniLink Logistics (A Houston-based 3PL Startup Firm)
Location Houston, TX
Sector Logistics & Warehousing
System Type Enterprise-Grade 4K IP Surveillance System, PTZ integration, cloud-based NVR
Key Objectives Perimeter Hardening, Asset Tracking, and Workers’ Compensation Liability Protection.

Client’s Requirement

The client required a reliable security solution capable of providing video surveillance coverage of large indoor warehouse spaces, loading docks, storage areas, and all exterior access points.

They required the warehouse surveillance system to be able to:

Continuously monitor the inventory storage locations.

Improve visibility of loading dock operations and shipments.

Prevent theft and unauthorized access to the facility.

Help track the movement of employees and vehicles throughout the warehouse.

Provide clear video imagery in the lower levels of light inside the facility.

Allow warehouse management to remotely monitor warehouse operations.

The capability to store for long-term recording of video images for 24/7 operations of the warehouse.

Additionally, the client needed a centralized video storage and an easily expandable system that could change as the operations of the warehouse grow.

The Challenges

The warehouse presented several security and operational challenges. Those are as follows

  • Limited sight lines of visibility over large storage areas;
  • Monitoring loading docks while vehicles are continuously coming and going
  • Concerns about inventory shrinkage.
  • Inability to monitor the facility/staff/deliveries at night.
  • Poor quality video due to out-of-date CCTV equipment.
  • Inability to view and manage remotely.
  • Limited visibility in storage aisles, along with blind spots.
  • Dust and varying light levels would affect the ability to see images clearly.
  • Maintaining 24/7 uninterrupted surveillance while operating.
  • Need for both interior and exterior camera locations.
  • Running cables long distances throughout the warehouse.

The client needed a cost-effective but high-performing solution that could withstand the industrial conditions of a warehouse.

What We Did

Our team designed and implemented a tailored warehouse security camera installation that meets the warehouse’s operational needs. The solution includes:

High definition 4k security cameras will provide a better view for surveillance

Mobile & desktop access monitoring with remote viewing arrangement

Stable, reliable network connection with PoE for easy installation.

Indoor Dome Cameras will cover the inventory aisles.

Outdoor bullet cameras will cover the loading docks and perimeter.

PTZ Cameras will cover large areas of the warehouse, and

A Centralized NVR-based storage solution

Low-level visibility through infrared night vision.

Our strategic camera placement reduced blind spots and provided clear visibility of the warehouse and entrance/operational areas.

  • Enhanced visibility of warehouse activities and processes.
  • Reduced potential for theft and unauthorized access.
  • Improved visibility on loading docks and storage areas.
  • Improved tracking of employee activity and vehicle movements.
  • Reduced time and resources needed to investigate incidents due to recorded video evidence.
  • Reliable, 24/7 surveillance and the ability for remote access to the video feed.
  • Scalable security infrastructure to meet future growth needs.

The new warehouse surveillance camera system has improved the client’s level of operational oversight, increased inventory protection, and provided greater security for the overall facility.
